So…. recently i fixed this hispanic guy’s laptop. The requirements were: Try to salvage all the pictures and make sure internet works.
So I received the laptop a week ago and it took me about 5 days to fix it. The laptop did not boot at all and MANY system files where missing. I could not boot from my USB drive OR the CD drive. Somehow i managed to get it to boot from USB on day 3. I check the hard drive and everything on it. The hard drive contains about 4 different partitions of windows (This guy installed windows on his laptop 4 times). So i saw the problem. I tried to do a Recovery Scan Boot and it fixed the booting problem. This is when i found out half of his system files where missing. Somehow managed to format his hard drive and delete all of the partitions.
Then i proceed to install windows 7 for this guy which is a HUGE upgrade from Vista, right? So after that’s done I boot up the laptop and EVERYTHING works fine. NO problems except a bit slow because its a SHIT laptop. Internet works just fine. I surf the web for a few minutes on the laptop, and it’s fine. So then yesterday my dad goes to return the laptop. Today, I get a call saying “Windows 7 isn’t working for me”
So, today I went to go check if this one frozen yogurt place was still hiring. My mom told me she saw an ad on some website. Apparently the owner or manager is Korean and gave out his number for people to call and ask about the job.
I went to the store instead to talk to a manager about hiring. No one was there except a white girl behind the counter. I asked her about hiring and she said they were looking for people, but she was not too sure. The girl told me I could apply online and come back some other time with the application. I thank her and leave (I should have gotten some FroYo on my way out :[ )
I told my dad what happened in the store, and he tells me to call the number of the manager. I try calling him and his phone went straight to voice mail. I call him again a few minutes later and the phone rings for a few seconds then goes to voice mail. So i decided to give up for now. A few minutes later he calls and this is how the conversation went.
Me:(English) “Yes, Hello? I called to find out if you guys are still hiring at Peachwave.”
Him:(In Korean) “hello? can you speak Korean.”
Me:(Korean) “Yes, i can speak a little.”
Him:(Korean) “Well that’s no good.” *Hangs up*
WTF JUST HAPPENED? This phone conversation literally lasted 5 seconds. I am confused on why it matters if i can speak Korean or not. The store had a white girl working at the counter, and when i walked in to get information ALL the customers where non Asians. Apparently i need to speak Korean to the customers, that must be it.
Alex! I love you!~
